5.12.2022, 10:30am-Doing Linguistics with Statistics
Data inizio: 05/12/2022
Data fine: 05/12/2022
Ora: 10:30-12:30
Cycle of seminars "Theoretical and applied linguistics" / "Text Analysis" seminar series
Conference Room, former Library of the Dipsum, Building D3, third floor Enter the meeting in Zoom - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81502263570?pwd=Y05heWswV1ZhUWJYTXpKd3BETkozZz09 - Meeting ID: 815 0226 3570 - Passcode: 033831
Abstract The seminar will focus on the use of RBrul, a program that allows you to analyze linguistic data with the aim of quantitatively estimating the influence of multiple factors on linguistic variables. RBrul is inspired by the previous variable rule program VARBRUL, the later GoldVarb and R-Varb and is based on mixed-effects models. The seminar will illustrate how to investigate linguistic variables through multivariate statistical analysis and to perform multiple regression analyzes. The basic guideline provided during the seminar will allow interested parties to conduct an accurate quantitative analysis on linguistic variation. Please bring a laptop.
Speaker Carmen Ciancia University of Salerno
Coordinator Syria Guzzo University of Salerno
